LIMITED RUN PROTOTYPES

Have you ever had the urge and desire to create an object from scratch?  An object that is beautiful and functional.  Follow Tommy as he documents his design process and creation of Tommy Tsunami Design, LLC signature Limited Run Prototypes.  Once the prototypes are fully developed, they will be produced as a Limited Run and available for sale.  The quantity of each piece will be limited.   If you are interested in purchasing a Limited Run item, send your email address to tommy@tommytsunamidesign.com and you will be added to our list of potential Limited Run purchasers.   Once the prototypes are final, photographs will be posted on Tommy Tsunami social media.  We will also send photographs to anyone who has contacted Tommy with their email as a potential purchaser.

The first home object that I will be exploring is the candelabra.  Candles represent so many good things:  light, hope, ambience, reflection, meditation and more.  Isn’t it about time to provide candles with a beautifully designed support that is beautiful in its own right, and celebrates the candle?

The design goal for the SHAPE SHIFTER candelabra was to create a candelabra that could SHIFT from one direction to another and still function while presenting itself horizontally or vertically.  This design came together quickly as a design-build exercise.  The final dimensions, proportions and materials are still being developed.

The SCANDAL (SCALE + CANDLE = SCANDAL design originally started as a candelabra for attorneys.  Question:  Why attorneys?  Answer:  I wanted to design and manufacture a super cool candelabra centerpiece for my daughter who graduated from law school and has a passion for design.  It was to be a candelabra based on the ‘scale of justice.’  Naturally, it started with the ‘balanced’ scale of justice.  But justice is seldom balanced, and the design developed as a scale of justice candelabra that can be easily, manually adjusted.  This concept nicely coincided with the design concepts that I wanted to employ for the candelabra series, balance, cantilever, primary geometric shapes, scale, proportion and above all—simplicity.  Now the fun begins with material selections!
